"That’s not what I mean,” he said defensively. His hoarse voice becomes clear and deep. I met his menacing gaze.
"We both know it's the truth, Yves. Last night... we got swayed by our emotions. It was unexpected.”
"Unexpected?” He chuckled bitterly, annoyance dripping on his tone. "I don't just go around and make love to anyone, Tara. If only you know me better, you'd know that's near to impossible for me. That's what I mean. We were not expecting it to happen but I'm glad it did."
