It was a sleepless night. My anger continued to climb as I stayed in bed, firmly keeping an invisible wall between myself and Braedon. He had overstepped and he knew it, but neither one of us was willing to make the first move to apologize. I couldn't believe what he had accused me of. I cared about our pups and I would never put them willingly in harm's way, but did he not understand that I cared about him too, the father of my unborn pups and my mate? It wasn't easy to switch off the mate bond and think only of myself. Whenever he was in danger, it was a reflex to think about saving him too. His words had cut deeply and I simmered all night, tossing and turning while he did the same, my eyes resolutely closed so that I didn't have to look at him. My wolf was whining in my mind
