The moment the call had ended, I walked away from Zaine and out onto the decking. I needed a moment to collect my thoughts. I did not know what to say to him at that moment. The look upon his face said it all, he would see it as me having surrendered to his father’s demands of us returning, but in truth any desire to remain at the beach house had gone.
