"Catherina..." Damian began, his voice cracking under the weight of her name. He swallowed hard, pushing past the lump in his throat. "She was my girlfriend. For a long time. We had this... this future planned together, you know?" He let out a bitter, humorless laugh. "But it was all a lie." Rachael’s expression didn’t change—arms still crossed, her eyes cold and unmoved. She waited for him to continue, not giving him any relief. Her silence was almost as heavy as the words he was about to confess. Damian dragged a shaky hand through his messy hair, his fingers trembling. "She cheated on me, Rachael. I didn’t want to believe it at first, I tried to convince myself it wasn’t true." He scoffed, disgusted with his own blindness. "She told me it was with her boss. But she swore he was gay!
