CHAPTER SEVETEEN

Goron stood watching the stary skies from his balcony. Lost in thought, he was unaware of the movement behind him until two soft hands hugged him from behind, holding his naked, muscled, tattooed torso. He smiled, placing his large hand above the females while she placed a soft kiss on his back and held him closer to her. He turned around to face her and held her close, taking in the sweet scent in her hair. He smiled at her as she looked up to meet his gaze with her brilliant amber eyes making her smile as well.

'Good morning Commander Goron', she said softly making him chuckle and smack her on her soft behind. She stands on her toes and tilts her head for a kiss but he lifts her off her feet and wraps her legs around his torso, kissing her as he walked back into the room and laid her on the bed slowly taking his time to have his way with her again. After they were done, they lay in each others arms content in bed, watching the slowly rising sun.

'I have to return you to your room before the house fully awakes', Goron said looking at the beautiful naked princess laying on his chest.

'Are you tired of me already?' she responded casting down her gaze.

He smiled and hooked his finger beneath her chin, raising her head to look at him saying, 'Till the end of my life I will never tire of you Melrib, but I must protect your reputation as a royal till our wedding night.'

'I do not fear losing my reputation as much as I fear losing you', she responded teary eyed.

'You will never lose me Melrib, I have already told my mother of my intentions to settle down. All that is left is to do is talk to my father so my family can officially ask for your hand.'

'Do you think he will be able to convince my father?', she asked curiously

'Knowing my father, he wont rest until your father agrees that I marry you and neither will I', Goron responded caressing her soft hair before pulling her for a final kiss.

Moments later he snuck her out of his room through the maze of corridor's to the door of her room. Melrib tapped lightly and her hand maiden carefully opened the door from the other side to reduce the creaking sound.

'My lady, thank the heavens, come in quickly', the hand maiden whispered harshly waving her in.

'What happened Lyta?', Melrib asked coming into the room.

'Your brother, the crown prince, came to check on you last night, I lied you had much to drink and wouldn't wake and he said he would meet with you this morning. I thought it was him.'

'I must leave you now', Goron said announcing his departure.

'When will I see you again?', Melrib asks

He whispers into her ear and kisses her forehead tenderly before walking out if the room. Lyta shuts the door behind him and he is left alone in the corridor.

He smiled to himself thinking about the nights events as he walked through the corridor into one of the courtyards but was surprised to find Ladiff sitting alone there.

Goron walked over to him and patted his back making the younger brother look up at him.

'Why are you up so early?', Goron asks sitting beside him.

'I couldn't sleep', Ladiff replies

'Anything wrong?', Goron asks again

Ladiff shakes his head without saying a word but keeps looking at the man made pond in front of him filled with various floating lamps.

'How's your head?', Goron asked again

'I'll live', Ladiff replies making them both laugh. They spend the next few minutes sharing stories and laughing together.

'I've almost forgotten how easy it is to talk to you. It's good to have you back Goron', Ladiff said

'I missed talking to you too, Ladiff' Goron responded

'Can I ask you something?' Ladiff asked

'Sure' Goron responds

'If you knew something, but revealing it would destroy what you are supposed to protect, would you?'

Goron looks at his brother with a confused expression but responds, 'If the knowledge puts the lives of those that matter to me at risk, I won't.'

'Even if it puts the monarchy at risk?', Ladiff asks again

Gorons head snaps upon hearing those words, he looks at his brother and says, 'what's going on Ladiff, are you in trouble?.'

'Its nothing Goron, forget I asked', Ladiff replied standing up.

'No it's not nothing, if it involves the crown, you need to tell father', Goron replies.

'Tell me what?' said a deep baritone voice behind them.

Both young men look behind them to find their father standing with a sparring stick in his hand.

'Good morning father' they said in unison as he walked towards them. He responded and sat in front of them before asking them to sit as well.

'So tell me, what is it?' Biron said looking at them

'Its the man been held in solitary confinement father', Ladiff responded making his father change into a serious demeanor

'What about him?', Biron replied

'I know you said not to get involved in the matter but I did some digging and ...', Ladiff stopped mid sentence looking uncomfortable.

'And?', Biron responds trying to encourage him to speak his mind.

Ladiff takes a deep breath and exhales before saying, 'and I found out he is the queens lover.'

'What!', Goron said

'Calm down Goron', Biron said still looking at his youngest son, who held his fathers stare.

'Continue Ladiff', Biron ordered

'According to my sources he has been seen with the queen in secret, more often in recent times. I dare to think that his coming to our home to give Prem the love potion was only a distraction, a small part of a far bigger plot.'

'What! When did that happen?', Goron says standing up.

'Goron, get me all of your brothers. The four of you will meet Ladiff and I at my private study', Biron ordered his son who sprang up immediately to call his brothers from their rooms.

Biron faced Ladiff saying, 'Tell me everything you know.'

When the four brothers returned to Biron in his study, he was on his feet pacing the room with Ladiff sitting on one if the soft cushions.

'Father what's wrong?' Yukon asks looking between Biron and Ladiff

'Sit, all of you', Biron ordered them as he continued pacing.

'Kultar, as the head of the kings guard do you order physical check on visitors coming in and out of the palace?'

'Yes father, its a mandatory security protocol for anyone coming through the palace gates', Kultar responded

'Are there exceptions?' Biron asked again

'Only if the person bears a high ranking insignia like a minister are they allowed to pass freely'

'And what about the women?', Biron asks again

'Women are searched by the female guards, I don't bother with them. I only check the reports when submitted', Kultar replied looking at Biron who rubs his bearded chin trying to make sense of all the information he had received.

'Father what's going on?', Yukon asks again trying to make sense of the situation.

'In a minute Yukon. The man that you arrested Kultar, the one who posed as Prems suitor, where is he now?'

'In the holding room of the barrack prisons', Kultar responded

'You said his response seemed scripted', Biron asked again.

:'Yes, its almost like he was reciting it. It didn't seem like the entire truth.'

'Take me to him as soon as our guests leave', Biron said sternly before looking at the rest of his sons.

'The rest of you are to keep a close eye on Prem, I want one of you by her side at all times.'

'Who is this man you all speak off?', Yukon asks

'He tried to use a love potion on Prem', Goron responded looking at Yukon who arched his brow with a confused expression.

'It wasn't a love potion', Padario corrected gaining everyone's attention.

'What was it then?', Yukon asked

'It was poison' replied Kultar

'I'LL RIP HIS HEART OUT', Ladiff roared standing up and charging at the door but Kultar got up and held him in a vice grip saying, 'How many times must I teach you to use your head and control your emotions? If you kill him you expose everything and endanger everyone', before releasing him

'You knew and didn't tell me!', Ladiff spat at Kultar facing him

'As your commanding officer, I am not required to share all information with you. As your brother, I refused to tell you because I knew you would react like this!', Kultar spat back.

'Do not pull ranks on me Kultar, I had every right to know!', Ladiff said again

'ENOUGH! BOTH OF YOU!', Biron roared making them both stop.

'Kultar return to your seat, Ladiff sit beside me here' Yukon said splitting the brothers up.

'What I want to know is how the queen involved in all of this and why she would want to poison Prem?', Goron asks

'The queen is involved in this?', Yukon asks

'According to Ladiff's sources, our prisoner uas been meeting with the queen in secret,they are suspected to be lovers', Biron responds.

'Where did you get that information?', Kultar asked looking at Ladiff

'I'm sorry sir, as a junior ranking soldier, I cannot disclose my sources for the sake of their safety. As your brother kindly f**k OFF!'

Biron looked sternly at Ladiff who quickly apologized to both his father and his brother in fear of his fathers wrath.

'So let's get our facts together, the queen sends her lover or spy to poison Prem, but he fails.' Yukon says trying to diffuse the tension.

'That would explain why she asked father about the incident in the house when we were discussing security details with the king', Kultar responds to him

'She wanted to know if he'd betrayed her. She was testing father's countenance to see if he suspected her', Padario looking at Kultar

'But why Prem?', Yukon asked

'What if Prem was just a distraction to get those loyal to the king out of the palace?', Padario said making everyone look at him.

'Think about it, if Prem had died. Father would have been heart broken. Kultar would come home for the burial to mourn and leave the palace with father to cone home.'

'Leaving the king unprotected', Biron says hold his nose bridge.

'With the Cudanian emissaries currently in Ravia, it would be so easy to pin the kings death on them', Padario said

'But now that their plan has failed, what will they do next?', asked Yukon

That is what we need to find out', Biron says
