“Not now, please?” Jesse pleaded in a hushed voice as she scowled at him.
Adler placed his hands in his jacket pockets and looked around. “Jesse…I need to make sure you’re okay….that those foxes didn’t threaten you over me…?”
Jesse looked back at the office door, knowing Pieter and the Silva brothers could come out any moment, before looking back at Adler. “I’m fine…no thanks to you!” She moved away heading for the stairs to return to the foyer of the main administration building. She couldn’t help but blame him for her being restricted by the foxes.
Adler let her pass him by but fell into step with her a little behind her left shoulder.
“Look…I just want to be able to talk to you…can we at least be civil?”
