The next two days were a hive of secret activity as Trey and the men all worked on his project that Adler and Jesse weren’t allowed anywhere near.
Instead Adler spent the time with Jesse, she was determined to try and break through to her fox fire and although her exhaustion levels were starting to show upon her face she would not quit.
Adler loved the stubborn streak within her but really wished at this point that he could order her to stop and rest. As he watched over her as they sat down in the meadow, meditating, he watched a bead of sweat trail down from her temple and across her cheek to drip off the edge of her jaw. He grit his teeth as he looked up into the sky and saw the dark grey cloud above them that was roiling with what felt like seething anger.
