Adler ran up the stairs two at a time, bursting in through the bedroom door to find Jesse being comforted by Trey who was gently trying to prop the pillows up behind her head. Jesse was grimacing in pain, holding her ribs on one side.
“Easy you jackass!” Adler swept in and pushed Trey aside. “She can’t sit up yet!”
Adler pushed her back down with one large hand on her shoulder, glaring down at her with his wolf and lycan swirling in his eyes. He noted the sharp angry look Jesse flashed him. “Don’t you dare try to argue that your fine!”
Jesse’s face contorted with the want to yell back at Adler’s commanding tone, but in all honesty it hurt too much. She huffed out a breath of resignation and looked away, turning her head on the pillow. “Fine…” She agreed quietly.
