Jesse blinked her eyes open to find the room blazing in sunshine and squinted a little at the bright light, holding her hand up to shield her eyes.
Adler’s head came up instantly. “Jesse…”
Jesse saw him sitting in the armchair in the corner and smiled. “Adler…” She breathed in relief at seeing him.
He was up and out of his chair and swamping her in a huge hug as he sat on the bed in front of her, tucking her head under his chin and pressing his cheek down on top of her head. “f**k, I wondered when you would wake up…”
“Adler…” Jesse tapped his waist and he sat back, letting her go begrudgingly, he took her hands. “Are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine…” She looked around the room with a serious contemplation. “So…Lord Valion has us?” She hazarded a guess.
