Unedited "ONCE AGAIN I'm sorry for the short notice. It was unplanned for." Nathaniel apologized, his hands tightened on the wheel. He gaze briefly at the younger woman by the passenger's seat. Samantha's chuckle filled the closed warm car. Her eyes glitter in a warm way, making him shift on his seat at the fluttering feeling settling in his stomach. "Forget it Nathaniel. I understand." A sigh of relief left his lips, not removing his gaze away from the dry, free highway. It unusual for a busy road such as this, remain free of some vehicle. The afternoon's sun hit the car as they drove off, making the car feel warm. Thankfully the cold weather had clear off, bringing in the warmth they all sort out for. The kids remained awfully quite. Nathaniel shifted his gaze at the mirror, taking in a quick image of there posture. Kenneth's head rested on the headrest; probably catching sight from the upper widow. While Olivia on the other hand, slept like an angel she was—dreaming of the beautiful days that were to come. "Everything alright there son?" Nathaniel couldn't help but ask not being fond of the new Kenneth in the car. "Huh." Kenneth only whispered, shaking his head for a moment before staring at his fingers. Now disturbed more than ever, Nathaniel pulled out from the side if the road. One thing was for sure—something was bothering his son, and he's going to find our what. His family come first before anything. "Okay kiddo it's better you tell me what wrong. What's it Kenneth?" He questioned, catching Samantha's attention the moment he had pulled at the roadside. From where he sat he could sense her worry. Kenneth in reply shrug his shoulder. "It's nothing dad. Just miss Mr Dess." He murmur blinking his eyes four times in a second; an act that proved he'd lied from between his lips. Gritting his teeth in frustration, his gaze narrowed tightly on the little boy. "Don't you think you're too young to lie? I never for once in my life thought you such act." He snarled out, boiling in anger. "What went wrong?" He got no answer or movement in reply—just silence. "Speak to me for God's Sake!" He yelled in frustration, slamming his palm on the steering. His act made Samantha and Kenneth; including Olivia flinch in fright. A warm hand touching his arm froze him for a second, as he felt himself toning down the anger slowly. "I think it's best he tells you. You're beginning to scare him, including me" She whispered close to him. Nathaniel could still sense his anger packaged at a side. Samantha's comment was meant not to be offensive, but he couldn't help quench the anger. "So you're in directly saying I don't know how to speak with my child?" He shot a glare towards her. Samantha shook her head in disbelief. "I think you're getting it all wrong-" She tried explaining but immediately interrupted by him. Nathaniel had no idea why the sudden anger in him kept overtaking his sense if reasoning. The mere thought of she being right, while he was wrong irk in to such high height. Kenneth quiet sob could be heard from his back seat, making Nathaniel bite him lips in fury. "Don't you start young man. Since you've refused to respond back to my question, it's better best you keep shut." He snapped out. The idea of his son keeping a secret from him fueled the burning flame around his body. The closest person to his heart kept something from his pained his heart so dearly. "Nate!" Samantha yelled back at him. He knew his words were uncalled for. Maybe he was beginning to lose it. Heaving deeply he lean his head on the wheel, trying to collect himself. The atmosphere was suffocating him. Winding the glass down for a fresh air, his head went back, clenching his eyes shut. The silence of the car made his state filled with regret. Never in his life had he ever behaved in such odd way. This was unexpected. What was wrong with him? "I'm sorry." He mutter out, trying to clear the tightened atmosphere. Samantha's silence proved he'd taking it way too far; she was back to her shell and he was to be blamed. After twenty-four long painful silence, Nathaniel pulled over at the driveway with scrunching sound of the tyre. Samantha nimble on her feet, heading to the backseat pulling Kenneth and an oblivious Olivia out. Not waiting for a reply she head towards the large brown door, pressing on to the door bell one of her hands held Kenneth's little one, while the other held a sleepy Olivia in her shoulder. Driving to pack the car properly, Nathaniel took sometime to relief the steam still present. Samantha's cold shoulder bothered him a lot. But he wasn't wrong to yell on his son for being a brat. He was only behaving like a normal parent would. There was no harm on his actions. Nathaniel couldn't help but wonder how a pleasant day had somehow turn disastrous. One moment there were smiles and the next yells and anger. Going back to join the entire family. Nathaniel noticed there were all seated on the dinning. His mother was the first to notice his presence, as she passes him one of her sweet smiles—one he was grateful for; he needed that. "Just the man I was looking for." She spoke out, standing up from her seat to give him a long hard hug. "I missed you my baby." She mumble to his face, plastering a saddened expression, but he knew better than to fall for her act. His eyes shifted to gaze at Samantha's, which she immediately averted towards the other direction. Her action made him more angry. He couldn't help but wonder what sort of burst of emotions does she want him to openly display to the entire family. Ripped away from his mother's tight grip, he was immediately thrown into more hugs from the remaining members if the families. He could only think of one thing. Warm. "Is it me or has Nathaniel grown more taller and handsome?" Anna asked as she lead him to his designated seat—right next to Samantha's. His f*****g luck Dalton snort in reply, seated at the head of the glass dinning table, making it glitter with the chandelier lights reflecting on it round the entire room. "If you think he looked anymore handsome, then you won't have a problem complementing me for my looks. After all I did the job of making the boys my twins." He smartly remark, the Carter's signature smirk printed on his face. Nathaniel could feel his mother eyes rolled as she trudge towards where she stood from awhile ago. "Years of knowing you Dalton Carter, I know better than to say such things. It'd only boost your ego." She replied to him, shooting a wink at him. The entire family chuckled, Carla Dylan's wife held unto their two years old daughter who kept tugging on her hair red hair. Very different from Dylan; the manwhore of their family type. Then the worst happened at the sight of an item laying opposite. Nathaniel felt his head spin, the full course of migraine heightened his senses. Speaking through his gritted teeth, he shot up. "What's the meaning of this?" The whole member of the family kept quite anticipating his next action—knowing the reasons for his sudden change in mood. Dalton being the head of the family spoke first. "A table cloth. You know the one you place a plate on top-" Frustrated he glared hard at the older version of him. " I know what a table cloth is. I just want-" His throat clench tight, as he found harder to breath. Leaning both his hands in the table to sustain some strength, heaving a deep breath. "-I want it gone." He pleaded, still casting his gaze down. The memories that item held still puncture his mind. At times he thought how cruel was life, but now—how cruel were his entire family. Nathaniel could feel Samantha's concern gaze shot at him. Not wanting to stand it more. His present state wasn't helping the family. Including himself —this wasn't the best way on trying to make amends with Samantha—by throwing out his anger on the entire family. Not giving the family enough time to thing any further. He dashed out pivot away from the room or he could say the large built castle. TOSSING A pebble on the floor, trying to cut time short. The sun shine harder than the past thirty minutes. Maybe it was how long she had been there—waiting. One hour thirty minutes, Nathaniel still wasn't back from where'er he went to. Samantha couldn't stop the troubling feeling disturbing her dearly. After the afternoon at the pack, she'd become more careful and conscious of her surrounding. She felt been watch at every movement she made—even while she slept. Something wasn't right. But what could it be? Shaking away the thought off her mind. She gaze at the long driveway lined by tall large trees, decorating the drive through. Anna and Dalton do have a lovely home, that Samantha could openly state. The castle behind her proved the house was really meant for a family such as the Carter's. From Natasha's explanation raising Nathaniel and his siblings wasn't an easy task. The house was meant for a happy, organised home. One Samantha was beginning to fear might crumble. All because if her sister. It was no surprise upon hearing Nathaniel had reacted such way at realizing the table cloth placed for her actually belonged to Natasha. The thought pained her more. She doesn't want to feel like she was taking away such memories that had been store there. The don't want to be a replacement. Thankfully it was changed after sighting Samantha's saddened state. Nathaniel noticed before the entire family realized. "Do you plan on making you lovely pale skin, turn brown?"  A voice spoke by her side, snapping get off her brooding thought. Anna's soft welcoming motherly smile, brightened Samantha's mood. "Waiting for Nathaniel." She whispered out, checking out for any sign of a black BMW. None. An outstretched hand blinded her view was Anna grabbed Samantha's right hand, pulling her to an unknown patio Samantha had never realized were there. "While we wait for my stubborn headed son. Let's discuss like a mother who would like to listen to her daughters complains." She replied, still keeping the smile on her face. Samantha open her mouth to reject. "No! Don't you dare speak another unwanted word of denial. Because what I see right now, is a woman with so much on her shoulder she'd love to offload off her chest. I know there's a lot in there-" She pointed in the younger woman's chest. "-Speak my child I'm all ears." Immediately Samantha burst in tears throwing out the past events of her life. Both sad and happy. All the while she spoke, Samantha never realised the older woman saw something Nathaniel and her never saw all those while. Samantha never knew in two weeks time both she and Nathaniel's life are about to change, forever. ********* Sorry for the late update. But promised to update today which I did.
