Chapter 11 The aroma of the wine Rory poured was earthy and woodsy with subtle notes of cherry and raspberry. Bond thought it perfect for someone who lived in the mountains. It tasted light and fruity and soothed the palate going down, leaving a warm glow in his belly. They sat, but didn’t speak as they drank, Bond minus his stained shorts and with his trousers and shirt unbuttoned. Rory’s kilt was still in place, but he had unbuttoned his shirt. The fireplace was near where they sat, and Bond enjoyed watching the firelight dance shadows and light off Rory’s black hair and fine facial features. The dark shadow of stubble only added to the mystery and appeal. Around them, the whole house warmed. When they had finished the wine, Rory took their glasses and placed them in the dishwasher.
