Chapter 6 Rory stepped outside and waited until he heard the lock click and the deadbolt slam into place. He shook his head over Bond’s irritation and set his toolbox and computer in the trunk of his car. To his earpiece he said, “Jason, I’m in my car headed for home to catch a few winks before I head for the client’s house again. Any messages or problems?” He nodded as Jason gave him a negative, then he turned the key over. The hybrid started soundlessly, and he backed out, pulled around, put it in drive, and headed down the road. A sick feeling flooded him as he realized he might’ve found Bond only to have him die when his brakes failed on the treacherous curves. It was the damndest thing. After all these years he’d given up on ever seeing him again, and now Bond didn’t remember him.
