Chloe's POV
I thought that hiding out in the mountains was a good idea. It's quiet and secluded, I didn't think that I would find a dying man out there. All of that was not in the plan. I had no choice but to do what was right.
My mother said that good karma always comes back to you, so I have tried all my life to do what's right. At that moment, saving his life seemed like the right thing to do. I couldn't leave him out there, but would have died.
I did the right thing. I should have just ended things there. That is what a smart person would have done, but then I had to listen to my stupid heart. This man looked at me in a way that I hadn't been looked at in years and it got to me.
