It was dark and so cold that I was shivering from where I stood, unable to make anything out except for the merest glimmer of a patch of sunlight in the distance. I strained my eyes and decided to make my way towards it, afraid to step out, in case there was nothing beneath my feet, testing the small area in front of me first. I stepped forward, holding my breath, and let out a sigh as I saw that I wasn't falling, was standing on what felt like air, as I wandered towards that small patch of sunlight, desperate to feel its warmth on myself.
