The next morning I was up early, dressing quickly, Max following along behind me, still a bit disgruntled from being left behind yesterday. We wandered into the dining room, Mrs. Gillspie smiling at both of us.
"Good morning" she greeted us "It's nice to see you up so early," she said, reaching over and giving Max a pat as he wagged his tail at her furiously. He really seemed to like her.
"Good morning" I greeted her enthusiastically, sitting down at the table and peering around in consternation "Where is Ricardo?" I asked politely. I had gotten used to his company in the mornings.
"Oh I'm afraid he won't be joining us for this morning's dance lesson," she said quietly "He has some other important business to attend to."
