Shaun gaped at Mara, despite what Lian he proposed.
“How is this even possible?” he asked Mara.
Mara shook her head.
“I don’t know,” she replied.
“How can you just give me something like that and not know?” he tried not to bark.
Mara swallowed hard, trying not to make a scene as she always did.
“I need you to tell me what you did…” he continued, drowning in her silence. “I need to know that you don’t hate me for it… I didn’t ask for this…” he said, trying to keep the edge out of his voice.
Mara’s shoulders squared in response.
