“Time to wake up, Elle,” Caine gently coaxed. “Dinner time.” Eleanor stirred, looking up at him. She smiled, “I’m sorry. I fell asleep again.” “No need to be sorry. I wanted you to rest,” Caine said, sliding a table closer to her. Its bent legs tucked under the sofa, allowing it to hover over her lap so she could eat without needing to move. Once it was in place, he went back to the kitchen to retrieve their dinner: spaghetti and garlic bread.
