“Easy, Elle,” Caine helped her stand. She winced as her tired body struggled to keep itself steady. Eleanor’s body ached and her ribs hurt, but she was happy to be moving. She was eager to put the hospital behind her. Caine shouldered their bags, escorted her out of the room and down to the first-floor desk. She was discharged easily with final instructions from the doctor as well as prescriptions. He stayed close by even as he sent a few quick texts. Once the paperwork was completed, he escorted her out where his truck waited alongside the curb. Beside it, a fellow MC member stood. He smiled at them as they approached before stepping away and back to where his bike was parked alongside several others.
