Aurora's Point Of View
"Goodness gracious!" Nana exclaimed as I rushed inside.
"Mummy!" The twins squealed as they rushed to embrace me. I held them close, trying to calm my trembling hands.
"Did you have fun with Nana?" I asked, masking my shakiness with a smile.
"Yes, mummy."
"That's good. How about you continue your food while mummy and Nana talk?"
"Okay, mummy," they chorused and skipped back to the dining table.
"Are you okay, dear?" Nana asked and I nodded.
"I'm fine, Nana. Just a little bit tired."
She gave me a knowing look and I looked away from her. If I look longer into her eyes, I fear I would tell her everything bothering me. Nana just has that effect. "Let me go and have a quick bath." I excused myself from the living and went up to my room.
I leaned against the door, my body restless. What was I going to do now? Maxwell had seen me. What would I do now? Will he tell Eduardo? Oh great moon, what am I going to do? I was jolted out of my thoughts by the sudden ring of my phone. It was an unknown number. My heart skipped a beat at the thought of Eduardo being the caller. I swallowed on fear before I swiped receive.
"He.. hello?"
"Miss Williams?"
I breathed in relief when a female voice replied.
"Yes, this is she."
"I am calling from Gomez Enterprise to inform you about your interview tomorrow."
"In... interview?"
"Yes, ma'am. I've been told to inform you to come over for your interview tomorrow by 10 a.m."
"Really? Oh my gosh, thank you so much."
"Yes, ma'am. We'll be expecting you."
I guess I did not lose this job after all. I decided to push back all negative thoughts and clear my mind. I came back here for a fresh start, I should not let my thoughts ruin it.
Nana left, I made dinner for the kids and we went to bed. I woke up very early the next day to do the chores and make breakfast for my kids. Nana arrived around 9. a.m and I left the house by 9.15. I arrived at the company at exactly 9.45 and I was directed to the CEO's office.
Hopefully, he isn't in a bad mood today. I knocked on the door and I smoothed my skirt as I awaited a reply.
"Come in." A thick voice instructed. I heaved a deep breath before I stepped in. He had his full attention on whatever he was working on on his computer.
"Good morning, sir." I greeted him to get his attention but it was as if he did not hear me so I decided to greet him again.
"Good..."
"I heard you the first time."
I flattened my lips. Way to go, Aurora, way to go. I stayed standing until he finally raised his head to meet my gaze. At that moment, my heart skipped a beat and I felt a connection with him. My wolf howled in approval, confirming what I suspected - a mate bond. And I knew he could feel it too. Who would have thought I would have a second mate? But it didn't matter. I did not want him and I would appreciate it if he didn't want me too.
"Who are you?" He asked in annoyance.
"I'm here for..."
"That does not answer my question."
Was he still in a bad mood or he was just naturally rude and obnoxious? Why would I be mated to someone like him? The moon goddess probably made a mistake.
"My name is Aurora Williams and I was informed to come for an interview today."
"You can either stand there or sit your ass down." He said as he returned his attention to the laptop.
Irrigation bubbles in my veins but I ignored it. I quietly took my seat and presented my documents as ordered. My pulse accelerated as I went through the papers as though he was flipping through the pages of a magazine. One would even pay more attention to a magazine. More than twice, he looked up at me, and my heartbeat seized each time. I don't know if it was because of the mate bond or because I was nervous.
His eyes were a piercing blue, set beneath thick, dark brows. His jawline was sharp and defined, outlining his chiseled features. His skin was smooth and tan, and he had a body that was toned and muscular. All in all, he was a sight to behold, and his beauty was undeniable. Not that I cared. I knew there was more to him than met the eye.
"You new in town?" He suddenly asked after taking his eyes off the documents.
"Yes."
He hummed in response and looked down at her CV one more time. "Where'd you come from?"
"England..."
"I swear you look familiar" He cut in and leaned closer, making his muscles shift under the expensive fabric of his suit. His blue eyes were now bright and he wasn't looking as angry as when I first entered the office. "Have we met before?"
I squared my shoulders and raised my chin. "I'm afraid not."
I knew a lot of people in the business world because of Eduardo but I only remembered a few. Ricardo Gomez wasn't one of them, that I was sure of. There was no way I would have met someone as rude as him and I wouldn't remember.
"You may leave." He said. Just like that?
Without protesting, I grabbed my things and stood up to leave but then, he also stood up and came to stand behind me. "I think we've met before, Miss Williams. I can't just place where."
I moved away from him immediately and tried to keep my tone as professional as I could, "I can assure you we haven't met, Mr. Gomez."
"Maybe at the club, a party, a one-night stand..."
"You're mistaken, Mr Gomez..."
"I don't make mistakes. And oh, I have a sharp memory especially when it comes to women I've fucked."
I fisted my hands at my sides and gritted my teeth. My wolf was growling in disapproval and I wanted nothing more than to slap his proud smirk off his face but then I remembered the job and my children. The CEO might be an asshole but that didn't change the fact that I needed the job badly.
"I'm not one of them, Mr Gomez," She replied with a smile. "Is there anything else?"
He sized her from head to toe and shook his head. "You may leave." I could feel his eyes on me as I started walking off. "Tell the receptionist to show you to your office. You resume work immediately." He said and I almost squealed.
"Thank... thank you, sir."
The moment I walked out of the office, I jumped in happiness and did a little celebratory dance. I got the job. I got the job! Whoo!!

I went to the receptionist and she took me to my office. It was directly opposite the CEO's office. It was a medium-sized well-furnished office. And I could see the city below through the transparent top-to-floor window.
The receptionist, Yolanda, explained everything I needed to do as the CEO's secretary. I did not do anything official the whole day. I mostly spent the whole day learning the ins and outs of the company and going through files.
I clocked out around 4p.m and I went around town trying to find a suitable school for the twins and one with fewer expenses. I finally found out and decided to get ice cream and chicken for the kids on my way home. We are going to celebrate my new job.
When I entered the house, I was met with darkness and silence. Where are the kids? I dropped the grocery bags on the floor as I tried to search for the switch.
"Mummy's home!" There was no response. "is this one of your games? Mummy has a surprise for y'all. Dexter? Eloise? Nana?"
Smiling, I walked over to the corner of the house and switched on the lights. When I turned around, I froze when I saw a familiar figure standing by the window. My pulse accelerated, my breathing turned shallow and I began to tremble as coldness washed over me.
No... It couldn't be!
He slowly turned around, stealing my breath. "Long time no see, Aurora."
"W...What are you doing in here?"
"Just came to pay a visit" He spoke calmly, slowly adjusting his cufflinks.
"Well then, you are not welcome here, Eduardo," I spoke through gritted teeth, hiding my anxiety beh
ind a fearless expression.
"But here I am." He replied lazily and stepped further into the room without taking his eyes off me.
