Gemma began to chew at the corners of her nails while thinking of Conner and how it was he would be holding up behind bars. Her heart stopped when recalling how he had done it for her and she felt guilty and shameful for allowing her feet to continue forward and abandoning him. There hadn’t been a night of sleep since she left him to where she didn’t have a nightmare about him being harmed in prison.
