My first mouthful, all I got was feathers. The Griffin dug its talons into me, gripping my sides. The sharp tips dug into my ribs and back. I spat feathers and lunged again, grappling for purchase with tooth and claw, worrying my head back and forth when I finally reached sinew at the neck. With a screech that I was certain shattered my eardrums, the Griffin tore me away from itself and tossed me like I weighed no more than one of the feathers still clinging to my muzzle. The world spun dizzily for a moment, and my body tried to right itself before I landed, but I still landed hard. Hard enough to nearly knock me out of my chosen form, since it was not one that came naturally to me.
