I bopped along to the song I did not know but had a catchy beat, letting myself relax slightly. My argument with Angel was weighing heavily on me, as was the look of disappointment on the Master vampire’s face when I hesitated about going to the events with him, to be at his side. I wanted to say yes, probably more than anything in my life. If he wanted to show me off then he must really like me. I did not get the vibe from him that he wanted to showcase me as his trophy in the same way that Antonio would. No, I think he really wanted me there, and yet I just could not say yes.
