“Alright everyone, spread out and lay low until I give the order,” I commanded over mind link as we approached the small holding. The sun was setting when I saw a vehicle approach, its headlights making it visible in the dark dense woods. On the outside the property looked almost abandoned with its weathered wooden structures and overgrown lawns, if not for the fresh sets of tracks going up and down the narrow driveway, one would overlook the property entirely.
“I will go in first,” Noah’s sounded in my head. He was worried about Phoenix and felt responsible for her safety... I did too... but after all the effort he had invested in this search and rescue, I decided to give him the opportunity to take the lead.
