Chapter Thirteen“Meghan, you’ve got to wake up now.” Her mother’s voice was as kind as she remembered. A gentle shaking of her shoulder followed. She was warm and sleepy. She stretched and dragged her eyes open to look once more into her mother’s face. Landau’s grayed face and rough beard confronted her. She yelped and shifted on the divan until her back was against the wall. “Sorry, if I startled ye, lassie. This is a nasty enough face to wake up to, I’m sure.
