My heart tore directly in two as I saw the disheveled shell of a man I had once looked to for comfort and even love. Now, he was swaying behind the counter, using the cold surface to hold himself in place, as his eyes attempted to rest on me, but continued to bounce in my entire physique. Instinctually, I turned to leave-my hand reaching for the door in preparation to return to Dillion, but I was unable to do so completely. I berated myself for being incapable of turning the knob as I knew only hurt would find me if I would remain...and yet, I curved to face him out of curiosity, if nothing else. “How are you here?” I finally asked, my eyes blinded by tears made up of both pain and relief; pain from our last interaction that remained like cold ice over my heart attempting to find warmth
