Chapter 1

*Sean's POV*     "Come on Sean! We're going to be late for our first day of class!"     I quickly grab all my necessary books and shove them into my backpack. I slip on my shoes, sling my backpack around my shoulders and grab my keys. "Okay I'm ready. Let's go." I said to Tommy.      This is the first year the pack has been allowed to attend a human college and Tommy and I are the only ones who wanted to attend. Most of the pack is wary around humans, but the world is constantly progressing and we need to stay up to date with all the new advancements. Every now and then we have a couple humans stroll through town asking for weird things like if they can pay through Venmo and no one understands what they're talking about. So the alpha has decided to allow us to immerse in the human world so we can blend in a little better. We're just attending a small local college about 35 minutes away so we can drive there for classes and continue living in the pack house.      Tommy and I both graduated in the spring, but we went to our pack school and I fear that our education is lacking compared to the human high schools since half of our classes involved fighting. We're both going to college as "Undecided" so we can take as many general education classes as possible before we choose a major. I wasn't particularly keen on going to college, but Tommy has always been intrigued with the human world and I couldn't let him go alone. Especially since he's our future alpha.      We park as soon as we see a good parking spot and run to our first class. As I'm running I get a whiff of the most amazing smell and I stop immediately. It smelled like a field of flowers after a light rain at the end of spring. Tommy stops and looks at me.      "What's wrong? We're going to be late for algebra!"     "Do you smell that?" I start looking around the surrounding area and it's starting to get packed with students walking to their classes. Tommy slightly raises his nose in the air and subtly sniffs and cringes.     "Smell what? All I smell is a bunch of humans who need to invest in deodorant. Now let's go!" He yanks on my arm to get me moving, but my legs were so resistant to move that I almost fell over. We hurry to our class and make it just in time for the teacher to start talking about the syllabus.  *Annabelle's POV*     College started a couple weeks ago and I've already made a lot of friends. I love my new roommate, which is great especially since I didn't have a choice in choosing who it would be when I switched to the honors floor. I recently got a job in the math tutoring center and I only tutor students who are taking the easier classes like algebra or trig. It doesn't pay a lot, but it's enough for grocery money. I was just finishing up with a student when the next round of tutors came in for their shift.      "Hey Bells!"      "Hey Josh, how's it going?" I say politely. I don't really know how we got to be friends, but I am very thankful that he's grown a liking to me. He's one of the popular guys on the soccer team with slightly curly brown hair and a lean body. He loves to talk to everyone and always has a smile on his face, but I often times feel too insignificant to be in his presence. Josh takes the recently vacated seat across from mine and slightly leans forward like he has a secret. I do the same and focus on him so I don't miss what he has to say.     "There's gonna be a new club opening up downtown on Friday night. Since they're so new, they don't have their liquor license yet, so they're allowing anyone 18 and older to enter for the first week. We can scope the place out and get a couple fake ID's if you want to keep going to it later on."     I shifted uncomfortably on my seat as I thought about it. I've never been to any kind of club or party since my social skills are severely lacking, but I've been trying to diversify a bit more since I started college.      "Sure, I'll go. But I don't want to break any laws, so I'm gonna have to decline your offer of getting a fake ID. Can I take my roommate with me?"     "Great! Bring as many friends as you want!" He looks off to the side and waves to another tutor on duty. "I'll see you there" he calls out as he leaves for another table.      I collect my bags and head to my dorm room hoping my roommate is willing to go to this club with me.
