Chapter 1

I sat staring out the car window. Nothing but Forrest sincere left city limits. Heading to our new home, I rolled my eyes. Halfway through the senior year and my parents uprooted us. Atleast they waited for the season to end. My volleyball season, I was able to get college scouts to come watch me. A couple offers came through and one choice was above the rest, ASU. What can I say I like the heat. It also helps my twin brother would be going with me. He was the brains, academic scholarship all the way. We sat in the back seat of the blazer both had our headphones in. Him studying something, me just scowling out the window. “Kids we have to stop at your dads boss house to get the keys to the house we will be living in before we can get there” our mom turned to us and waited for us to take our headphones out so we can hear her. “Should only take a few min but please get out of the car so who I can meet them” dad added. We shared a look and nodded. We passed through a small town and noted to all the fast food stops, stores, movie theater, bars and a gym. Atleast there was a gym. “Mom can we stop by the gym tomorrow and get a membership please. I gotta stay in condition for college” I pleaded to her. “Be nice and yes we can.” Be nice. I can’t help I don’t have the ability to control my face. If I’m displeased it shows. Annoyed, happy, any emotion, my face speaks it for me. We pulled up to large house, I mean huge! Three stories, garage on the side. The Forrest close to the back and side of the house. Looked like it was about to be swallowed up. Dad parked the car and we all stepped out. I was stretching my limbs when a man and woman came out smiling and walked down the steps toward us. “Marcus good to see you.” “Hello Alistair, id like to introduce my family. My wife Jane, and my kids Rylee and Ryder.” He shook his hand and smiled. He was a tall man I would say about 6 foot 3 or 4. Dirty blonde hair and steal blue eyes. His smile was gorgeous. “Nice to meet you, I’d like to introduce my wife Emma.” He looked at her smiling, he grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it making her blush. I raised my eye brows. Ok that was the cutest thing ever. We shook he hand and as well. “How about you all come in for tea or coffee?” I almost died. I didn’t want this to take longer than needed. “We’d love to but we want to get as much unpacking done so the kids will be ready for school. But how about after we get it all undone we have your family over for dinner.” My mom said I tackled her in my head screaming I love you. “Sure thing. Marcus let’s go get that key.” “Rylee and I are going to wait out here stretch the limbs and even joy this fresh air.” Ryder said as mom and dad nodded and followed his boss inside. “So still thinking of running away?” “I will always want to run back home but there’s no point. Just gotta finish the school year then off to college. I just feel they could have left us there to finish there instead of moving us here.” I walked toward the tree line and looked at the forest. “Don’t make it miserable. It’ll go slower, try to Atleast make friends. That way when we come back to visit it’s not just mom and dad we see.” Ryder was right. I know my sulking needs to stop. “Love you twin” “love you twin” we said to each other and did our handshake. I looked Into the forest and saw movement. “Ryder are those wolves? They are massive” I started to take a step forward like I needed to get closer and see if they were as big as they looked. Ryder grabbed my arm “if they are let’s not get closer and be mauled.” He said and I nodded. Our parents walked out along with dads boss and wife. “What are looking at dad” dad said making us jump “wolves. They are huge” I pointed out. Alistair cleared his throat and said “yes we get them pretty close to houses since we are in the middle of a forest don’t run from it’ll provoke them. Normally if you stay still they will just walk by” he said as he looked at the wolves walking further from the house edge. We said our goodbyes and drove to our house. It wasn’t far from dads boss and just like theirs sat close to the forest looking like it was going to be swallowed. “Alright pick your rooms, start unloading the trailer and we will have pizza for dinner while we unpack” dad as we walked into the house. I pick the room on the second floor end of the hall. It had a huge bathroom and closet that Made my jaw drop. The window on the back wall faced the forest. Nothing but a sea of green. I headed down to help grab boxes out of the truck and get them inside. 2 trucks pulled into the drive and 4 guys walked up. “Marcus? I’m Hayden Alistairs son. He said you guys might need help unloading the truck and sent us here. That’s my older brother aiden, our cousins Brent and Donovan.” These guys were tall and build like Greek gods. “Your drooling” Ryder whispered in my ear warning a slap to his chest. “Sure guys you can help with the heavier stuff” dad said. The boys walked toward the truck and as I was climbing off I pumped into Aiden. “Sorry” I mumbled. He stiffened and turned to look at me. “Hayden stay here, I forgot I have a thing to do.” I looked at everyone who looked back at me. I shrugged grabbed a box ad walked inside and continue to unload.
