Prologue

It’s June and raining but it marked the beginning of a relationship that will pave the way for a future relationship.         Honey Kim arrived at her their new vacation house in the Philippines. Since she and her husband decided to come here often because of their business, they purchased a house and lot. Her husband hired staff for their “little mansion,” as he calls it, beforehand in preparation for their visit and to surprise her.         “Welcome to the Philippines, Mrs. Kim! I’m Corrinne Cruz and I am in charge of the household staff.” Corrine said as she greeted her employer.         “Hello! Thank you! Can we drop the formalities, please?” Honey replied with a smile. “Of course, I think you were informed that I am Mrs. Kim but just call me, Honey. That’s my English name. Mrs. Kim sounds old to me but I hear it often.” She continued to say followed by a hearty laugh.         “Very well, as you wish, Honey,” came Corrine’s reply. “So, where do you want to start today?”         “Okay, Corrine, first, I’d like us to get to know each other a little bit more since we’re going to be working together. That’s where we should start.”         “Then I suggest we head to the garden where we can have tea while getting to know each other.” said Corrine nervously. She thinks her boss is kind and has an amiable personality.         “What a great idea!” exclaimed Honey”         Corrine led the way and Honey was amazed about the way the garden was designed and in no time, they were like long lost friends although they met only today.         “I’m about four months pregnant now,” started Honey. “This is my second child. My first born is a girl. We thought we won’t have another child due to miscarriages… a few times. But after five years, here he is… my newfound joy, our long-awaited gift.”         “That’s great! Congratulations,” was Corrine’s first few words. “I have a   three-year old daughter and I think you won’t believe it… I’m also pregnant,” she added and smiled happily!         “Oh my!” Was Honey’s surprised response. “I can’t believe it! Really? But you don’t look pregnant!”         “Oh, it would show soon. I’m nearly two months so it doesn’t show yet. It’s a coincidence that we’re both pregnant now” Corrine said happily.         Corrine was a bit startled when Honey held her hands, looking all excited. Then Honey looked at Corrine, saying, “Corrine, this is not a coincidence.”         “You think so?” Corrine just said.         “I always believed that things happen for some reasons,” Honey continued. “We met for a reason. Would you believe that my close friend, back in Korea is a psychic? She said that my second baby will be a boy and foretold that I would first meet and work with the mother of my son’s future love before he and the girl would be born! I strongly believe that you are the mother of the future love of my son, so I think that your baby is a girl. Yes, I’m sure of it.”  Honey was smiling brightly.         “What?” was all Corrine could ever say. She felt a cold shiver ran down her spine. She was trying hard to process everything. She was always quick to grasp ideas and was quick to respond but she was unusually slow after hearing all that Honey said.         After a few moments, Corrine recovered somewhat and said, “No offense but I may not be the only pregnant woman you’ll meet and work with before your baby is born. Don’t you think?”         “I know! It’s hard to process all at once. Don’t worry, no rush. I didn’t believe in fortune telling before but when I met this friend, my belief changed. She was a genuine psychic, really,” Honey replied.         “Aside from that, I’m really sure because I won’t have projects for a while. My husband begged me to rest. I’m not supposed to be here now because of my past miscarriages but after a go signal from my obstetrician, I was finally allowed to come with my husband,” Honey said enthusiastically.         “Oh, okay, so tell me more about your friend, please,” was all Corrine could say.         “She has the gift of foresight" Honey added. "She doesn’t brag about it, though. She’s an ordinary person but when she talks about the future, she is accurate. Just don’t go asking about the winning lottery numbers because she’ll just tell you that her power doesn’t cover that.         “She predicted how I would meet my husband. I totally forgot about what she said until the day after I met him. She said that I would meet my future husband in an unlikely circumstance. It will be during a very busy day when I least expect it. And no one would introduce us to each other. She said that...  Wait, Corrine, are you okay? You seem to have become pale. ”         “Yeah, I just need to understand. Don’t worry, I’m okay. So tell me, what happened,” encouraged Corrine.         “Okay, so I was in this event. I was the event planner hired by the company. At the hall, the morning before the said event, we were preparing everything. I was giving instructions and we were running out of time. I hate mistakes, so I wanted everything to be according to what the client wanted. So there, just like a dream, as I turned to go outside, I bumped into a gentleman who was apparently watching the preparations. He introduced himself and got my number, pretending that they have another upcoming event. And as they say, the rest is history.”         “Wow, that’s wonderful,” Corrine said while smiling widely. “That’s so sweet! And your friend, I want to meet her one day.”         “Really?” Honey exclaimed. Well, let’s see if I could somehow snatch her and bring her with me in one of our future visits here. Or maybe, I could kidnap you and bring you with me to Korea in the future. What do you think?”         The hearty laughter of the two women filled the garden. Then…         “Oh!” expressed Honey then she held her growing tummy.         “What’s wrong? Are you alright?” asked Corrine nervously.         “I’m fine but I felt the first kick of my baby!” Honey said excitedly. “He seems to be happy to meet you.”         “Oh, I’m relieved that you’re okay and do you think he is happy to meet me? Hello there little baby? This is Aunt Corrine and I hope to meet you in a few months when you come out, okay?” “Oh my, he kicked again!” Honey said excitedly. “See, I told you he is happy to meet you. Did you forget what my friend said? You will be connected to him in the future because you are his future love’s mother.”         Corrine smiled shyly and said, “If that is what God planned for them, then I have no right to object. Now, let me show you the kitchen and you could tell our chef what you want for lunch.”         “Right," Honey replied.  "I like you Corrine! From the start, my first impression is that you are going to be the best I will work with. But I am hoping that we could be more than just employer-employee. I hope we can be friends, too.”         “Thanks, Honey," came Corrine's reply. "I want to be friends, too and  I will do my best in my job so I won't disappoint you."
