5 CAROLINE “Marry you?" I repeated as I stood, the simple wooden chair skidding loudly against the floor. The man was insane. He kidnapped me from a moving stage, dragged me across the countryside to a tiny little cabin and said he was going to marry me. "Why would I want to marry you? You kidnapped me! You're not any better than the man who wants to marry his father's bride!" I retreated slowly toward the open doorway.
