Jade slept for fourteen solid hours, and woke stiff and sore. She was startled to see Cyclad Arik standing over her in battle posture, then realized that was how the creature slept. Cyclad, too, had survived this folly. Jade closed her eyes and let out a deep prayer of gratitude to all the gods of war, of many races, she’d ever heard of. Sometimes things did work out right.
