Chapter 14: The Summoning Prince Ahmad and his party spent the night at the Sea Temple as guests of Arianos and the other local priests, all of whom were thrilled to meet the Umar bin Ibrahim their colleague had spoken so glowingly about. Umar, however, was in no condition to be the center of adulation, and so he went straight to bed, as did the others. Because they had been through so much excitement the night before, the priests let them sleep late the next morning. It was several hours past sunrise when they finally awoke and performed their morning ablutions. Umar and Leila in particular looked pale and complained that they could not eat even the wholesome fare the priests placed before them. The monkey, Verethran, picked the food off their plates and ate it himself, pretending to th
