I woke to the first grey light of dawn filtering through the curtains. Astrid was still asleep. One of her arms was thrown across my chest, her fingers loosely against my skin. Jacob was at her other side, her leg over his torso. Astrid doesn't know this, but moves a lot during her sleep. I'm surprised she didn't fall off the bed before we came into her life.
"Or perhaps she does it because she now feels safe," Jariko stated, leaving me deep in my thoughts.
It could be, when we found Astrid, she slept in a small room with that atrocious man, I'm sure she didn't sleep like a log like she does with us.
"You may be right," I sighed.
