After some thought, Doctor Digby said, "For adults, I'd recommend painkillers—they can handle more. I brought up nerve blockade because I'm worried Cedric might thrash in agony post-surgery, disrupting the process."
Galvin added, "Miss Davidson, Doctor Digby's point is that both methods have pros and cons. It all hinges on whether you're willing to let Cedric endure more pain."
I didn't want Cedric to suffer, but I was even more concerned about his future mobility.
I asked, "Doctor Digby, how confident are you in performing the surgery within the precise time frame using nerve blockade?"
Digby sighed. "The leg injury's been delayed too long. If pressed, I'd say fifty-fifty. The procedure might take longer, but nerve blockade shouldn't exceed fifteen minutes."
