“I’ll go with you,” bratty Heather says the next morning when I’m on the way to the Taggarts’ house. Like that’s gonna happen. Least I hope not.
“You’re grounded, remember?” I say.
“That was yesterday, snot-nose. Hey, Mom, I can go, right?”
“Me, too,” Sarah Beth adds.
Heather spins toward her sister, laser eyes shooting down anything in their path. I’m in the line of fire so, bam, I get it. Ouch. I’m thinking those eyes are gonna make Sarah Beth splatter all over the wall. But she just shrugs a shoulder and makes an ugly face at her sister. Guess there’s vaccinations for anything, even laser-shooting eyeballs.
