My cousins scream. Heather and Sarah Beth jump up from the couch and bolt to their mother. Mitten bolts, too, with Riley racing after her. I think I screamed, but I’m not sure. “A tree fell on the house!” yells Mom. She has to yell because the roar is inside now. “We need to shut that door,” Rita shouts back. I help. Wet leaves, moss, and thick tree branches take up the whole room. We have to push them back out so we can close the bedroom door.
