Prelude to a Symphony of Unborn Shouts

Roger Elwood, of the somewhat notorious reputation, asked me to write a story about birth control. When I wrote it, I thought it was kind of far out and exaggerated. The future sometimes has a way of catching up with us.
AP—The Department of Commerce today released more data from the 1990 census report. The figures show a dramatic resurgence of attendance among the “organized” religions. The National Council of Churches and Synagogues hailed this as a major breakthrough of the century, and a reversal of the trend away from established faiths.
“People have had their fill of the emotion–oriented cults that sprang up in the seventies and eighties,” said Rabbi Benjamin Green, co–chairman of the Council.
