As expected, Emily's face turned pale with anger.
"If you've already made up your mind, then why even bother asking me? No matter what I say, you won't believe me anyway—you only trust what you see with your own eyes!"
Christopher had nailed it. Three years of endless letdowns, and she still hadn't learned her lesson.
Still holding onto that tiny hope that one day this man might actually believe her.
Luna wiped the tears off her face and looked up from her sobs. "William, please tell Emily there's nothing between us! She's got it all wrong! She's so into you—she'll believe whatever you say!"
"She thinks I tried to seduce you… and now they…" Luna couldn't finish. She kept sobbing.
Hearing that, William chuckled coldly. He had actually doubted Luna for a second, seeing how innocent and wronged Emily looked.
So what now? This vile woman wanted to drive every woman around him to their breaking point?
His eyes turned sharper as he glared at Emily. Then he picked Luna up in his arms and strode toward the door. As they passed Emily, he spoke, his voice directed at Luna but clearly meant for Emily.
"No need to explain anything. You're my woman."
Emily knew those words were meant to pierce straight through her. Her tears finally fell uncontrollably.
Hearing that, Luna gently wrapped her arms around William's neck. Her voice soft and sweet, "William… you… don't blame me, do you?"
Those words hit William like a brick. If only Grace had asked him that before taking her own life. He would've told her, no hesitation.
"Never. I never will."
That answer brought a satisfied smirk to Luna's lips.
William's eyes swept over Emily and the group of thugs on the ground. His expression turned cold, violent even.
"Drag those trash out. Beat them within an inch of their lives."
The punks instantly panicked.
"Miss Thompson, help! We only did what you told us! You can't leave us hanging here!"
Emily broke into cold sweat as soon as she heard that. She grabbed William's sleeve in desperation.
"They're lying! Just dig a little deeper—if you really investigate, you'll see I'm telling the truth!"
She believed if he looked into it, these punks wouldn't be able to cover their tracks no matter what.
"Let go," the man said coldly.
"You…"
At that moment, the last bit of hope in Emily's eyes shattered.
"William, even if the truth's staring you in the face, would you still refuse to believe me?"
He looked at her with disdain. "Do women like you deserve anyone's trust?"
Swallowing her sobs, she snapped back, "One day, you're going to regret this!"
"Save those lines for yourself," he sneered.
When she wouldn't let go, a bodyguard in black stepped forward and kicked her hard in the stomach.
Emily stumbled back, collapsing heavily onto the floor.
"Ah!" She screamed, clutching her belly as a wave of sharp pain gutted her.
Something… was flowing beneath her?
Panic shot through her—she hadn't had her period this month…
Her mind went blank. She didn't care whether he believed her anymore. Her voice trembled with urgency.
"William… help me. It really hurts. I think I…"
But William cut her off coldly. "You love playing dirty, don't you? Then go ahead—enjoy the consequences."
Emily's eyes widened in disbelief.
"William, how could you do this to me?!" Her voice cracked, full of hurt and despair.
But he didn't even glance back. Holding Luna in his arms, he walked off. Just threw out one chilling sentence:
"Do whatever you want with her. Just make sure she's still breathing when you're done."
