Chapters. 6
"Are you sure you don't need Mommy? Don't you want Mommy to wait here?"
A little boy about five years old who was carrying the bag shook his head at his mother.
"No need, Mommy. I'm a big boy," said the little boy who had a very unique eye color. He was also very handsome. "Mommy will just go to work. Let Uncle Andrew pick me up later."
The fashionably dressed but very elegant woman frowned. She was puzzled by her son's attitude, who seemed so close to one of his workmates at the company.
"Why does Uncle Andrew have to pick you up, dear. Mommy can do it too." Lauren protested to her only son.
Since deciding not to terminate her pregnancy, Lauren also decided to move to Germany. Because according to her, this is the safest place for her to raise her child.
And sure enough, here Lauren can calmly raise her son named Johan. Although it was hard when she first started living here, Lauren was lucky to meet some very nice people. You could even say that the kindness of that person exceeds his own family who actually left him and his mama first. The man was also very kind to Johan. He often treated Johan like his own son. Even though there was no blood relationship between them.
"Because Uncle Andrew promised me that after school he would play soccer," Johan answered why he chose to be picked up by a man named Andrew.
Lauren sighed. She was surprised by Andrew's behavior, which always spoiled Johan. Lauren knew full well that Andrew's work schedule was just as busy as hers. But he still made promises to Johan. In addition, Johan is a child who never forgets the promises he has made, with anyone.
"But Uncle Andrew is busy, dear." Lauren tried to give understanding to her son. Perhaps Johan would soften and stop bothering Andrew.
Lauren only felt sorry for Andrew, because he had helped her and Johan so much. There was no way Lauren was still bothering Andrew for other matters like this.
Seeing the change in Johan's facial expression, Lauren squatted in front of Johan while looking at him very gently. Trying to give understanding in a very subtle way.
"Mommy's son is very handsome and smart, his promise with Uncle Andrew was postponed, huh?" Johan frowned when his mama said that.
"Why?"
"Last night Mommy told you that Mommy will take Johan to meet Grandma," said Lauren while rubbing Johan's head gently.
Suddenly Johan's expression, which was previously gloomy because he was asked to cancel his promise with Andrew, turned cheerful. He even looked very happy, as if Johan was eagerly awaiting his meeting with his grandmother.
Without realizing it, Lauren's tears fell down her cheeks. Lauren quickly wiped them away so that Johan wouldn't realize how much it hurt when he remembered that the woman who brought him into this world was gone.
"Is what Mommy said true?" asked Johan to double-check his mother's words. "Mommy's not lying anymore, right?" Because Lauren had said that before, but it never happened.
It has been six years since Lauren left her home country, Sweden. Lauren tried to forget her wounds and grudges there, but it turned out to be much more difficult than accepting even the most bitter reality. The longing for her mother was much deeper than the hurt she had received in the past.
Feelings of guilt towards her mother came back to her mind, making Lauren close her eyes for a moment and catch her breath. She must not get carried away like this in front of Johan.
Lauren slowly nodded with a smile. "Yes, Johan. This time we're going back to mommy's country," said Lauren. "But Johan has to do well in school, okay? He can't bother Uncle Andrew anymore. Okay?"
"Okay, Mom!" Johan exclaimed, looking very happy. It was Johan's smile like this that made Lauren able to survive until now from the cruel world.
"Okay, then Mommy goes to work. Be good, Mommy's favorite." Lauren said goodbye to Johan, hugged her son briefly and then stepped into the car while waving at Johan.
As for Johan, the little boy followed his teacher into the classroom after Lauren was out of sight. He no longer made trouble like before. When class had started, Johan chose to go to the library in his school.
The teachers never forbade him, because Johan's grades were always the highest in their class. And the boy was very smart. It could be said that the intelligence possessed by Johan was above his age of five years.

"What about your plans for next week?" asked a well-dressed man as he adjusted his glasses. He glanced at the person he was talking to, then refocused on the document in his hand.
Lauren sighed. "I'm not really ready to go back to my country."
Lauren's words made the man she was talking to put the document on the table. He took off his glasses and walked over to Lauren and sat beside her. Staring at the woman he had been trying to win over for the past six years. But until now this woman has remained in her stance. She wanted to be alone and focus on her only son.
"Lauren..." Andrew gently rubbed Lauren's arm while looking at her with a gaze that was serious, but also very soothing. "You haven't been home for a long time, Lauren. Don't you want to visit your mom's grave?" Andrew tried to persuade Lauren to let go of her guilt towards her own mother.
Since getting to know Lauren, a woman who used to be so fragile and quiet, Andrew has learned more about the reason why Lauren is not as cheerful as other women he knows.
Being pregnant at a very young age, having no family, and living alone here, of course made Andrew sympathize to help Lauren to become what she is today. In fact, he also loved John like his own biological son.
As they spend more time together when he's not busy, Andrew often expresses his intention to be Johan's father in a legal sense. However, Lauren rejected him as much as he told her.
"It's time for you to come back, Lauren," Andrew said again. He fully supports Lauren to befriend her guilt towards her mother. So that Lauren can live comfortably without being haunted by an overwhelming sense of regret and guilt. Even though from Lauren's story, Andrew can judge that it all happened not because of Lauren's fault entirely. Although Andrew could not justify the decision Lauren made at that time.
"But I still can't, Andrew," Lauren replied in a soft tone of voice.
Andrew could see the look on Lauren's face as it turned somber. He calmed Lauren down, giving her the courage to accept what he knew was unfair to her life.
"When the work here is done, I'll catch up with you later. How about it?" Andrew said, causing Lauren to turn to him with a look of reassurance.
"Are you serious about following us to Sweden?" asked Lauren, confirming what Andrew had just said.
Andrew nodded firmly. "After everything here is done, I'll be there."
For some reason, Lauren felt calm after hearing Andrew's words. If she thought about it, it was her own hometown. But Lauren's steps felt heavy to go back there. Perhaps because of her past life, Lauren seemed reluctant to return. On the other hand, she has to go back there.
Apart from wanting to visit her mother's grave, there is work that LKauren cannot avoid. As a beginner designer and quite famous, Lauren got an offer of cooperation with a well-known company from Sweden.
The company where she works now also told Lauren to take advantage of this opportunity very well. So that Lauren will have the opportunity to become a famous designer. Not just a domestic designer, but an internationally renowned designer.
Lauren's heart was at ease, and she talked about their work. Here Lauren is a junior designer, but has very high integrity for the company. Many clients loved the ideas Lauren came up with for their requests.
In such a short time and with such a tough life, Lauren managed to build her own career here. Although her struggle was not as easy as others. This is because Lauren shares her time with Johan.
Lauren initially learned how to make a beautiful dress by herself. Then Andrew enrolled Lauren in a renowned university. Lauren also studied hard, as if not wasting Andrew's kindness given to her while taking care of Johan who was still a baby at that time.
Lauren's seriousness in doing things paid off. She got a good job and was still able to educate Johan to become a very smart child. So smart, sometimes Lauren was overwhelmed in answering questions from Johan.
