Evander couldn't wait for the afternoon. Hazel had told him that Noah was going home and that the boy had asked for him to be there. He felt a pleasant warmth spread through him and smiled without realizing it. The boy had truly touched his heart.
"Someone's in a good mood," Elena said, approaching with a smile on her lips, but her eyes hinted at something else entirely.
Evander smiled back and greeted Elena affectionately. His hands found her waist, pulling her close.
"I wish I could spend the whole day with you, but I still have to work," he said, his expression lazy.
Elena wrapped her arms around Evander's neck. "I'm always at home, and I'll always be here no matter how far you go, Captain," she said with a sweet smile. "It just depends on whether you can remember the way back."
