CHAPTER 18 : With you..

1879 Kata
During the journey up to now they had arrived at the hotel where they were staying, Mikaela was still amazed, why today Darren did not bother her at all, in the sense that he was silent and did not scold Mikaela as usual. Usually in a day at least three times Darren would yelled and ordered Mikaela. But today the man was so calm. Even on the plane Mikaela noticed that Darren just kept looking at the window, and didn't talk to her at all. Not that Mikaela hoped that Darren would talk to her, no. In fact, she had never dreamed of being alone with Darren. For God's sake, she dreamed it last night! How stupid Mikaela was, after what Darren did to her, she still could not hate him. Maybe it was her past mistakes that made Mikaela continued to feel guilty feelings. Sometimes she felt guilty of everything that had happened, sometimes she felt she had the right to determine what she wanted, not Darren. Mikaela laid down on the bed room. Of course, she got a different room from Darren, Darren's room was more luxurious than her room which according to Mikaela was very good, comfortable and spacious. She took off her coat after laying her suitcase. Mikaela would take care of it later after bathing, now she was still tired just to step into the bathroom. Totally unbelievable, she went to Maldives alone with Darren, although Mikaela knew the reason Darren took her was for business and had to take care of all of Darren's needs here, she had to be honest that in his heart she felt happy. Darren behaved as if there were no problems between them, whereas Darren had been furious at Mikaela for ruining Caroline's party. Was it all because of Rendy? Because Rendy said that Mikaela was his fiancée? Darren might appreciated it a little now because Rendy recognizedher as a fiancé, but Darren must knew that everything was not true. Mikaela would tell Darren about this later. But for what? Was that important for Darren? Mikaela thought twice about whether she should tell Darren or not, because maybe Darren would not care about anything about her anymore. Besides, the man did not ask at all. Mikaela massaged her forehead. What did Darren think about her? Was it okay if Darren consideredher as a candidate for Rendy's fiancée? Did she had to say that Rendy was lying? But would Darren care about her? Mikaela really wanted to know how Darren felt for her. Did Darren still had a little care for Mikaela? Apart from hating the girl of course. Apparently not, considering the events at the party. Darren, who was very worried about Caroline, really made Mikaela felt sorry for herself. Mikaela straightened up suddenly when she heard the door creaked, opened. "W ... what are you doing here?" asked Mikaela looking at Darren, who had just entered without permission. "You?" "Dar ... Darren." Mikaela's face was pale. Where did Darren get access to her room? Wasn’t this a five-star hotel? People could not enter at will to someone else's room. Even if it was only a class of cheap lodging, privacy would still be maintained, but Darren could easily enter Mikaela's room. "I am hungry." replied Darren nonchalantly. "Then?" "Do you want to eat or not?" Darren's voice and expression still sounded cold, but Mikaela liked it. Darren offered her a meal. A very rare thing happened to her for now. "Y ... Yes." Mikaela answered awkwardly. "I'll wait thirty minutes from now." Darren turned back to close the door. Mikaela rushed into the bathroom because Darren only gave her 30 minutes to wash up. The question still arouse from where did Darren get access to her room? Mikaela would ask the receptionist later. Of course it disturbed her privacy. *** The sea breeze caressed Mikaela's face and hair, Darren invited her to dinner by the beach. It turned out their hotel was not far from the beach. Really beautiful. Previously Mikaela had heard that Maldives was a very beautiful place, its beaches, sand, and waves. It was true. Their place for dinner was not a romantic and quiet place, a lot of tourists who came, with lots of candlelight on the table, and lights that were only placed in several parts, and traditional live music that was so entertaining, made  some tourists felt relaxing atmosphere. Mikaela smiled at them. "Do you like it?" Darren's voice captured Mikaela's attention. The man sitting in front of her was eating a half-cooked steak that made Mikaela's saliva almost drip. She should had ordered the same food as Darren, not a burger. "Eh, yes." answered Mikaela, still smiling. "It's good that you like it." Wait. Good word? Did Mikaela not misheard? "Your cellphone rang earlier." Darren leaned back in his chair to drink his mineral water while pointing at Mikaela's cellphone with his chin full of beards. Mikaela, who only just realized that her cellphone kept ringing, immediately looked at it, but it was too late. The call ended before Mikaela could answer it. "Who is that?" Darren looked at her. Mikaela was reluctant to answer because the call was from Rendy. She immediately opened 14 messages, all from Rendy. "Rendy?" guessed Darren. Mikaela nodded her head. "Why don't you pick it up, he must be so worried about you." Mikaela looked at Darren in disbelief. "How long will we stay here?" asked Mikaela, braving herself, asking the question Rendy asked in her message box. Indeed, before Mikaela left, she had told Rendy and Tiwi that she would go to Maldives with Darren. Rendy strongly disagreed and opposed it. But what else could she do? This concerned Mikaela's work, not for fun. "Hmm, whenever I wish." "As you wish?" Mikaela frowned. "I don't know yet, if my business is over quickly we will be back quickly." Mikaela seemed not satisfied with Darren's answer, she typed something back on her cellphone and immediately sent it to Rendy. "Did Rendy ask that?" "Yes." "Then tell him, his fiancé will be fine." "I..." Mikaela canceled her intention to explain if Rendy was not her fiance. But she held back when she remembered how Rendy's self-esteem would be destroyed if she told the truth if she was not Rendy's fiancé. She could not be selfish, Rendy had helped her a lot. "Since when have you been in contact with him?" Mikaela swallowed. Didn’t know what she had to say to Darren. "Since when have you been in contact with Caroline?" Instead of answering Darren's question, finally only the words that came out of Mikaela's mouth. "Since she saved Daffa." Darren answered honestly. "I'm sorry ..." Mikaela felt guilty that she was not there when Daffa needed her. Darren looked into Mikaela's eyes, this time there was no sharp look or anger, only a flat expression and ... Mikaela could not interpret that look. "What for?" "For everything I have ever done." Very weak and almost inaudible Mikaela said what she wanted to say long ago. She did not dare look directly into Darren's eyes. Mikaela looked down to play the leaf-patterned tablecloth installed there. "Thank you." Despite Mikaela's expectations, Darren thanked her. Mikaela looked at Darren questioningly. "Because of you, I met Caroline." The next instant was just the pain Mikaela felt. Darren was right, maybe she was not a good woman, as good as Caroline. Maybe Caroline was the best woman that Darren needed. Darren got up up from his chair. "I am full." The man left Mikaela. At least Darren was kind to her today. That was enough for Mikaela. Yes, enough for tears to involuntarily ran down from her eyes. It would be better if Darren scolded her all day. No, this was better. Mikaela's tears flowed harder. *** Darren repeatedly called Mikaela the next day only to say that they would have a meeting with the client in an hour, but the girl did not answer the call. Making Darren upset. Darren decided to see what Mikaela was doing in his room until she presumptuously did not answer the telephone from Darren. Of course it was easy for Darren to get access in and out of the room, he was good friends with the hotel owner who was also a friend when he went to school. Without asking a second time, the receptionist gave him a key in the form of a card to enter the room he ordered for Mikaela. After swiping the card, the door to the room opened easily. Darren immediately entered to see the situation inside. He found Mikaela was still sleeping soundly on her bed, Mikaela covered her body wrapped only in a sleeveless nightgown with a thick white blanket. Her face looked a little messy. Actually it made Mikaela look sexy. If only Darren did not remember his purpose, he would had been tempted by Mikaela's innocent face. "Hey, wake up." Darren shook Mikaela's toes. He did not want to touch other parts, or he would lose control. Mikaela stretched, unintentionally revealing her blanket, and revealed a bit of her chest covered by a nightgown. "s**t! She doesn't wear a bra!" yelled Darren in his heart. Darren closed his eyes, remembering his original purpose. "Hey, wake up!" jerked Darren to shake Mikaela's legs again until she really woke up with a surprised face. She hurriedly took a blanket to cover her tiny body. Darren smiled weirdly at Mikaela, her eyes slightly swollen and red, with disheveled hair. Darren made sure the girl cried last night. Did she miss Rendy so much? "We have a meeting in an hour, so get ready." Darren refrained from throwing a tantrum in front of Mikaela, even though he wanted to scold the girl all the time because he wasn't ready to meet his clients this morning and again for what she was crying? "Okay... okay, sir." she said timidly. Darren did not know he should be happy or angry if she felt frightened by him. Mikaela was seen entering the bathroom cautiously, while Darren chose to sit on one of the sofas in the room, he called the receptionist to send breakfast to Mikaela's room. Not taking too long, Mikaela came out in her bathrobe kimono. Like seeing a ghost, her face looked surprised again to see Darren was still in her room. "You ... You're still here?" "So what?" Mikaela closed her kimono. "I'll change my clothes inside." She took the clothes she had prepared last night quickly and returned to the bathroom. Their breakfast came, Darren opened the door and told the servants to put their breakfast on the sofa table. Darren ordered an American breakfast for both of them and black coffee for him. Mikaela came out still with a towel stuck to her hair. She seemed reluctant to approach Darren. "What are you waiting for? We don't have much time, if you don't eat breakfast, you won't be able to concentrate." said Darren then took a sip of his coffee. Not lost from her surprise, Mikaela approached Darren. The man was preparing breakfast for her? And made Mikaela hoped again after last night she cried felt pain in her heart? "What happened?" "What do you mean?" Darren asked the meaning of Mikaela's question. "You ... are just very different." "Is it really weird if I'm being nice to you?" Mikaela fell silent. "Am I ever so mean to you?" Mikaela shook her head. "What's wrong with being kind to my friend's fiancee?" Darren ate his bread. "I.." "Never mind, just eat your breakfast, we have to hurry." Darren did not want to argue. It turned out that Mikaela's conjecture was correct. Darren was kind and changed because Rendy said that Mikaela was her fiancé. On one hand Mikaela felt happy, but on the other hand she felt sad because Darren did that because of Rendy, not because of her.
