For two years, everything was perfect. She didn't question anything. She didn't resist. She believed what she was told. Everything was peaceful for them.

Two agonising years had passed. I couldn't seem to locate her. The feeling of being a failure grew worse with each passing day. I found myself criticising myself for my sloppy behaviour.
I should have known better than that. I should have known my chosen mate better. I should have shielded her. When that wench impersonated her, I should have known something was wrong.
I had erred. As a crown prince and as a mate, I had failed miserably. I couldn't go a day without thinking about her. Every day, I prayed for her. In honour of my Danisha.
"Where are you, my love? I'm so sorry I neglected you," I whispered while I gaze at the far distance while I persist at my window. The sun was setting, and the sky was painted in magnificent crimson and orange hues. It was a stark contrast to my otherwise monochrome existence. If only I could track her down. I had a feeling she was around. All I had to do was track her down.
But the issue was that I didn't know where to look. I'd spent endless hours exploring the enchanted woodland seeking a whiff of her fragrance or something that could lead us to her. Our efforts, however, were futile.
It was as if she had vanished into thin air. That, however, was not an option. I had a feeling she was in trouble. She was a fighter in every sense of the word. She would have already returned home if she had been able to. The only reason she hadn't returned was because something or someone was interfering with her efforts.
"Or maybe she was bewitched, like Amelia had implied."
My lycan, Axe mumbled through our link. I shuddered. I dreaded that. If that was what had happened, then I was in deeper trouble.
If her lycan was truly put to sleep, only her fated mate could save her, and I wasn't her destined mate.
"Who knows? Maybe, after all these efforts and years of turmoil, we just might be an exception," Axe said, addressing my fears.
I sucked in a deep breath.
"I will find her. I don't care if we aren't destined together. I will bring her back," I vowed, determined to break the curse, fated or not.
