Chapter 15 Wedding Gift

Emily still hadn't been discharged from the hospital when she received the wedding invitation from William and Luna. For days, chatter about the so-called "fairy tale wedding" of the prince and princess filled every corner of the hospital. Staring down at her bare ring finger, Emily couldn't help but notice the faint white mark still there. Back when they got married, all she had was a piece of paper and a simple ring. No ceremony, no celebration. Nothing. She let out a silent scoff. Most people probably had no idea—William was on his second marriage. ——— The wedding was held at the prestigious Hotel in City L. Emily went straight backstage and handed a flash drive to the guy managing the big screen. "I'm a friend of the bride. This is a surprise for her. Please keep an eye on the timing—play it right before they exchange rings." The staff member didn't think twice and nodded. Emily walked into the grand hall where the wedding was already underway. The bride and groom were in the middle of their vows. As soon as they finished, she stepped slowly onto the stage, face completely emotionless. William spotted her and immediately frowned, annoyed. His tone was sharp. "What are you doing here?" Emily lifted the invitation in her hand, voice calm. "If you didn't want me here, maybe don't send me an invite next time." She'd kept quiet in the past because she still had feelings for him—but not anymore. William's face darkened. Was she cursing his marriage? And how dare she talk to him like that? "I sent the invitation," Luna cut in, smirking at Emily like she had the upper hand. "We used to be best friends. I truly wanted your blessing." Emily let out a low laugh. "Oh, don't worry. Your wedding present from me is on the way. Hope it makes your day." There was something unsettling in the way Emily looked at her, and Luna's smile faltered. Right then, the lights dimmed slightly. The image on the giant screen changed from the pristine wedding setting to a dark, rundown warehouse. Then a woman's voice echoed through the hall. "You can do whatever you want with Grace, just make sure she stays alive. I refuse to believe a girl who's been gang-r***d could still show her face around William." The whole room gasped."Hey, what about that other chick we knocked out?" the sleazy guy in the video asked. "Hands off her," came the reply, sharp and cold. "Throw her in my car. She's our scapegoat. William's gonna make her wish she were dead." ... Luna's face twisted with rage—she flung the bouquet in her hands straight at the screen with a loud thud. Her voice cracked as she screamed, "Turn it off! Shut it off right now!" The second she spoke, her voice overlapped with the woman's voice in the video—it was unmistakable. Panicked, she grabbed William's arm tightly. "Will, this isn't real! It's fake, I swear! It's all Emily's doing, she's jealous you chose me. She made someone create this whole video to ruin me!" William just stared at the screen like the ground had disappeared beneath him. His heartbeat pounded in his ears, and his mind screamed not to accept what he was seeing. Because if it was all true... then everything he'd done in the past three years... He would've been nothing but a colossal joke. Emily walked up to him, meeting the disbelief in his eyes head-on. Her heart felt hollow—numb. "You can verify if it's doctored or not. Oh, and by the way—the accomplice? Christopher." With that, she turned and walked away, no hesitation, no looking back. It was really over between them this time. She didn't notice the way Luna's expression morphed into something feral right behind her. As Emily stepped out of the hall, completely off-guard, she was shoved over the fifth-floor railing. Luna's voice ripped through the air. "You b***h! You ruined my life! Go to hell!" "No!" William reacted instantly, lunging forward to grab Emily—but his hand caught nothing but air. As she fell, everything blanked out. She hadn't thought it would end like this—that the chaos would close with her death. Loving William had been the most brutal, devastating mistake of her life. She lost everything—literally everything. Even her life. If she had the chance to go back, she'd never let herself fall for him. But maybe... maybe it was better this way. At least he'd never truly loved her. Then maybe, when he learned the truth, all he'd feel was guilt—not heartbreak. Even in this moment, she still couldn't stop thinking about him. Emily shut her eyes. A hint of a bitter smile curled on her lips. And she kept falling, down... down...William, do you believe me now?
