Alexander was pacing anxiously with the butler and Charlotte nearby, all waiting quietly but restlessly.
Ashley stepped forward and gave a polite bow, her movements graceful. In a gentle voice, she said, “Mr. Taylor, hello. I’m Ashley, a classmate of Cassandra’s. I came by to check on her.”
“Thank you, Miss Sloane. That’s very kind of you,” Alexander responded, his voice tired. He gave a small nod, gratitude showing in his eyes.
Just hearing Cassandra’s name made his chest ache. The pain etched deep into his aged face.
Ashley hesitated slightly before bringing up the real reason she came. “So… I saw something on Lexford University’s forum about Cassandra…”
