She could understand Frederick jumping in—but even Eugene went after Clara?
In that moment, a wave of unease hit Ellie.
A sudden chill lurked in her chest. Five years was enough to change a lot of things. Could it be that Eugene wasn't the same anymore? Had he fallen for Clara again without realizing it? Why else would he dive in after her? Wasn't she the one he used to loathe the most?
Ellie stumbled off, frantically shouting for help, while repeating the same desperate words in her head—Clara, just die already. Don't come back. Don't take Eugene away from me.
