Evelyn looked at Danielle with a cool, sarcastic smile. "Julian and I are married. Certified. The wedding's already being planned."
She added, her voice easy but firm, "It's never been just a fling. We're legally husband and wife."
Seeing the stunned look on Danielle's face, Evelyn gave a soft scoff. "Not that I'm particularly proud of it. But, well—sorry to break it to you—I'm officially part of the Everett family now. What matters to him, matters to me. Married couples are a team, right?"
With that, Evelyn slowly retracted her gaze.
She didn't bother checking Danielle's reaction again—just turned around and left the office.
