Ever since William found out that Emily would be attending the auction with him, a subtle smile had been playing on his lips.
He kept sneaking affectionate glances at her every now and then.
Emily, on the other hand, tried hard not to meet his eyes.
As they walked into the auction hall on the first floor, a bald guy in a sharp suit came over to greet them.
"Mr. Carter, and this is...?" The bald man's eyes roamed over Emily, a little too openly.
His gaze made Emily frown.
Before she could say anything, William's face darkened as he shot back,
"Did they open the auction to just anybody now? Even random nobodies can walk in?"
Without waiting for a reaction, William wrapped an arm around Emily and turned away.
Behind them, the bald man's voice trailed after,
