Chapter 7 I agree to divorce

The moment Ethan left the hospital room, Jasmine felt a wave of unease creeping in. Something was off. She immediately sent her assistant to dig up some info, and the truth hit her like a slap—Anna was pregnant. "b***h!" Jasmine's voice trembled with rage. She was fuming, pacing the room like a trapped animal. That gut-wrenching regret rose up again—why had she ever pretended to be cool with it back then? She'd urged Ethan to marry Anna, mostly to avoid drama between him and his dad. Plus, she genuinely believed Ethan loved only her. Even if he married Anna, he'd never touch her. But reality? Ethan had done a hell of a lot more than just "touch" Anna—now the woman was carrying his child. Being the second wife was bad enough. But having a kid suddenly call her "stepmom"? That'd drive her over the edge. No way in hell she'd let that happen. Clutching the bedsheet in a death grip, Jasmine's eyes narrowed with venom. "You've all pushed me into this…" Over in the ER— "Not mine?" Ethan let out a strange laugh, cold and bitter. "Seriously? You think you can toss that mess on my head and just walk away?" His tone was mean, cutting. "I already agreed to the divorce. Isn't that enough?" Anna's face was pale and devastated. All she wanted now was to get far away with her unborn child. "In your dreams," Ethan growled, grabbing her face and pressing hard where she was already hurt. "You wanna dump me and go play house with your old flame, right?" His whole vibe was ice-cold fury. He never thought it'd come to this. Anna—asking for a divorce? He didn't even love her, but still, he wasn't about to let her leave so easily. That choice wasn't hers to make. "Ethan, can't we just end this peacefully?" Anna begged, her voice cracking. "Peacefully?" Ethan snorted. "You and your lover? I'll ruin both of you. And that baby?" His eyes were full of malice. "That stays out of this world." Anna froze, eyes wide with disbelief. Her mind just… blanked. "No! You can't!" she cried, collapsing on the bed and grabbing Ethan's arm desperately. Her hands were trembling, her cheeks streaked with tears and blood, looking truly wrecked."This is your baby—our baby. I lied to you before, I admit it. But if you don't believe me, we can wait until the baby's born and do a DNA test." Anna didn't expect Ethan to be this heartless. Ethan looked a little less furious for a moment, but he still shook off her hand with a frown. "No need." His voice was ice-cold as his eyes swept across her belly. "No matter if it's mine or not, it's not staying." He wasn't just ending the pregnancy—he wanted a divorce too. If he ever had a kid, it'd only be with Jasmine. Ethan's tone was casual, like they were talking about the weather. But Anna felt like she'd been dropped in ice water. In that moment, she saw Ethan for who he really was—utterly cold-blooded. "Sir, sir, you can't go in there!" the nurse called out, trying to stop a man from barging in. Before her voice even faded, a cocky-looking guy had already sauntered into the room. "Anna, is our baby okay?" he asked, not even sparing Ethan a glance before walking straight to the bed and sitting down. Our baby? "What are you talking about?!" Anna froze. Who the hell was this guy? "Anna!" Ethan exploded, rage flaring back up. "Ethan, I don't even know this guy, I—" Anna didn't get the chance to finish before the stranger wrapped his arms around her. Anna struggled hard. "Let me go! Get off me!" "Ethan, please, let me explain!" As Ethan turned to leave without hesitation, Anna finally broke free and reached for him—but her hand closed around nothing. The second Ethan was gone, the stranger who'd just grabbed her didn't even try anything else. Not even trying to figure out who he was, Anna jumped out of bed, shoved on her shoes, and ran. But the moment she stepped outside, she almost slammed into Ethan—who was pushing Jasmine in a wheelchair. Startled, Anna turned and tried to run the other way—only to be blocked by his bodyguards. Surrounded by people, but no one came to help. It crushed her. "Take her to the OR," Ethan ordered coldly. Pinned to the gurney, Anna screamed, "Ethan, you can't do this!" "Please, I'm begging you..." Her cry faded as the sedative kicked in and all her strength slipped away.
