“I…I was just making a suggestion,” Tyla said weakly. She curled up into herself and took no further part in the conversation.
“Well,” Bred said, trying to be as lighthearted as possible, “if we’re stuck here for the indefinite future, we’d better make sure we know what we’re doing. We’ve already settled the first two important questions; we’ve got a good supply of water, and the cave keeps us safe. I suppose that brings us to food.”
Luuj nodded. “Some of the trees and bushes may have edible fruits and berries; Dr. Curdyn will have to run tests on everything to be sure. As for meat, it’s difficult to say. I haven’t seen any animals so far. Has anyone else?”
“No,” Nezla said. “Nothin’ but those drummin’ bugs.”
