Lilah hadn't realized Mr. Hughes was being completely honest until she saw Violet in person.
Violet really had hit rock bottom.

She was lying in bed, totally lifeless.
The back of her hand was swollen from constant IV drips. Her face was ghostly pale, with sharp cheekbones sticking out beneath paper-thin skin.
"Was this really worth it?" Lilah stood at the bedside, looking down at her.
Violet's eyes snapped open the moment she saw her.
