After dinner, Jennifer gave me a private report. In that terse way of hers, she said she couldn’t hear the Voices at all once she got outside ship, and there was no trace of them over at the station. I gave her a brief nod. In addition to keeping the captain safe, I’m sure this was another reason the Voices didn’t want me leaving the ship. They couldn’t let me go where I’d be out of their range. Yet another reason for me to feel caged. I spoke with Linda and Warren for a while, making very tentative plans for the team’s exploration tomorrow inside the station. Then I went to bed and lay staring at the ceiling, feeling sorry for myself for an hour or so before I finally dropped off. Hey, feeling sorry for myself is my right, right? Ain’t nobody else gonna do it for me, as the line goes. W
